Caledonia Steel Queens

The Caledonia Steel Queens were Scotland's first women's university ice hockey team being officially founded in January 2018.

The club would go on to to win the BUIHA National Championships in 2019, 2022 and 2023, becoming threepeat champions. In 2023 the club decided it was time to try and grow the women's game further and joined the Women's National Ice Hockey League allowing us to open up junior pathways into the sport for women.

the Parliament congratulates Scotland’s first university women’s ice hockey team, the Caledonia Steel Queens, on winning the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) Women’s National Title in Nottingham with a perfect record; applauds the team's huge achievements in such a short period of time, particularly as the club was only officially formed in January 2018; notes that its successes include reaching three finals and one semi-final in the four national competitions that it has entered; considers the club to be a huge influence in attracting women to ice hockey given that the winning team included 15 new starts, and wishes the team well in developing new talent in future years.

The team managed to win the league, playoffs and ultimately promotion in their first season.  They are competing with two senior league teams this season and a U16 team. 

It is sure to be an exciting season as they continue to grow the women's game and have a whole lot of fun on the way.
